- KS2 children can be left in the playground from 8:45am. Early Years and KS1 children are dropped off by parents at the classroom door when the bell goes.
- School starts at 9:00am and the teachers collect KS2 children from the playground. Teachers mark the registers by 9:05am so punctuality is of the utmost importance.
- School ends at 3:30pm and parents collect their junior age children from the playground, infant children are collected from the classroom.
If parents need to speak to class teachers, it is advisable to make an appointment so that the day can begin swiftly. However, all teachers are in the playground from 8:55 am and after school for a brief conversation.
In Early Years, the day is structured so that there is continuous access to the outdoors and, therefore, no specific playtime is designated.
In Key Stage 1, playtime runs from 10:15 – 10:30 a.m in the morning and from 2:15 – 2:30 in the afternoon
In Key Stage 2, playtime runs from 10:45 – 11:00.
Fruit and milk are provided for all children in KS1.
In KS2, we encourage children to be healthy and therefore we allow fruit or vegetable as a playtime snack.
Early Years take their lunch from 12:00 – 1:00
Key Stage 1 take their lunch from 12:15 – 1:15
Years 3 and 4 take their lunch from 12:00 – 1:00
Years 5 and 6 take their lunch from 12:30 – 1:30
All Key Stage 1 pupils are entitled to a free school meal. We encourage parents to take this option for Key Stage 1 pupils. Please ask the school office for a form.
School meals are cooked on the premises by Benthal’s own catering service. A choice of meals is provided, which always includes a vegetarian or Halal meat option. The menu is posted on the school website.
Children may bring a healthy packed lunch if they wish (no sugary drinks or bars of chocolate are allowed).
Benthal’s uniform is available for buy in the school office: jumpers, cardigans and summer dresses of different sizes. All children must bring a change of clothes for P.E., including shorts, T shirt and trainers.
